Retro wall clocks

Retro clocks have become very popular with today’s consumers and shoppers as they offer some great wall clock designs for your kitchen or living room in your house. The word "retro" derives from the Latin prefix retro, meaning "backwards" or "in past times" – particularly as seen in the words retrograde, implying a movement toward the past instead of a progress toward the future, and retrospective, referring to a nostalgic (or critical) eye toward the past.

Retro is a culturally outdated or aged style, trend, mode, or fashion, from the overall post-modern past, but have since that time become functionally or superficially the norm once again. The use of "retro" style iconography and imagery interjected into post-modern art, advertising, mass media, etc. has occurred from around the time of the industrial revolution to present day.

To add a feature to a room you cannot do better than add a stunning retro wall clock. There are many different styles of retro clocks, from radial clocks to starburst wall clocks to flip wall clocks. One way to go about selecting a retro clock is to choose a style that exactly fits with the period of your kitchen décor or room decor. Retro clocks cover a wide time range from the 40s, 50’s and 1960’s, to more modern retro design period of the 70s or 80s style can work well in an ultra-minimalist apartment.

Choosing a colour is quite straight forward, the colours don’t always have to blend, sometimes a bright, unusual colour can work well, especially for a retro colour scheme. Using a feature wall can also be a good way of showing off a really nicely designed clock, and you could even consider painting or decorating a wall of your room in order to make a feature of a large painted station clock or sunburst style clock.

The most common colours we see in retro clocks are red, cream and black, although lately there has been resurgence in clock styles from the 1950s and 60s which feature wood and other brighter colours and finishes.
